Holsteiner Horses
The German Holsteiner
The Holsteiner breed of horse is a type that actually comes out of a
region in Northern Germany. It is actually thought to be the oldest
warmblood breed. They say that it dates all the way back to the 13th
century. This is not a popular horse outside of horse shows. In fact,
most people have never even heard of the Holsteiner Horses. However,
they are starting to become a dominate force in a lot of different
international competitions nowadays. Most of the Holsteiners seem to be
making quite a name for themselves in the jumping competitions. Of
course, it is not crazy to hear about a Holsteiner being in a hunting
event or even a combined driving event. Overall, this is a great horse
that can do just about anything that it puts its mind to. Like most
warmbloods, they are not made to be working horses. They are made to be
show horses. Although they are super powerful, they are best used in
competition.
The Holsteiner horses come in a lot of different colors. However, it is
important to note that not all colors are permitted in a lot of
different shows. In fact, the only colors that are permitted in these
shows would be colors like bay, black, chestnut, grey, and brown. Also,
keep in mind that these need to be solid colors. They do not need to be
spotted at all. Only the solid colors are eligible to be considered
Holsteiner breed. For example, if your horse has a leopard pattern on
it, then it becomes disqualified right away without even getting to be
in the show. This is one of the things that judges look for, as well as
people who are signing up the horses. As we already talked about, they
are great at jumping, and one reason for this is because they have
strong bones that can support them as they land. They have excellent
movement that is ranked above many other breeds. The horse also has a
great gallop to it. When it is running, it is one of those horses that
can make any horse lover stop and stare at it.
If you are thinking that you would like to get a Holsteiner horse, then
you are going to have to come up with some money. This is a sports
horse, not just your everyday run-of-the-mill work horse. Thus, they
cost a little bit more money. Also, if you live outside of Germany,
then you could have a hard time getting thi horse as well. Keep an eye
out for these breeders, however, because they are located around the
world. This is a horse that will not let you down if you get it. You
just have to actually get your hands on it. They are a noble horse that
loves to be with it's people. It has a respect for you, if you can have
respect for it. After all, when you are sitting on an animal this big,
you have to have some kind of respect for it.
